Final Year Dissertation
Visible light driven efficient photocatalytic degradation of congo red dye catalyzed by hierarchical CuS-Bi2CuxW1-xO6-2x nanocomposite system
Guide: Prof. B.G. Mishra
Contributed towards experimental setup of the synthesis of CuS-Bi2CuxW1-xO6-2x nanocomposite and Bi2WO6 nanomaterial
Also, contributed towards the characterisation studies using XRD, FTIR, FESEM , liquid UV
The findings has been discussed in a peer reviewed article published in the ‘RSC Advances (Vol. 42)’. (Details of publication mentioned later)
May 2015 – July 2015
Internship – Dept. of Chemistry, IIT Madras
Pt/ZrO2-C Catalyst for Electrochemical Methanol Oxidation
Guide: Prof. G. Rangarao
Synthesised composite electrocatalyst that showed a higher ‘Methanol oxidation reaction activity’ when compared with Pt/C catalyst.
Surface area of the synthesised products were carried out in BET, which was followed by CYCLIC VOLTAMETRY study using the characteristics properties determined using FT/ IR, UV, PXRD & SEM.
May 2014 – July 2014
Internship – Dept. of Chemistry, IIT Guwahati
Optoelectronic Properties of Pyridine-pyrrole based Donor-acceptor Oligomers: A DFT Study
Guide: Prof. A. N. Panda
Ground-state geometries and optical properties of pyridine-pyrrole based donor-acceptor type conjugated polymers were investigated using the density functional theory (DFT) at the B3LYP/6-31G (d, p) and CAM-B3LYP/6-31G (d, p) levels, as implemented in GAUSSIAN 09 package.
The stability of the compounds were compared by analysing the band gap approximated from the difference between HOMO and LUMO energies as well as the excitation energies calculated from the time-dependent DFT (TDDFT).
May 2013 – July 2013
Internship – Dept. of Chemistry, NIT Rourkela
Polyphosphoric acid–zirconia pillared clay composite catalytic system for efficient multicomponent one pot synthesis of tetrahydropyridines under environmentally benign conditions
Guide: Prof. B.G. Mishra
Different clay based nanoporous materials were synthesised by performing various surface and structural modifications. The synthesized clay materials are characterized by XRD, FTIR, UV-VIS, TGA, FESEM. Their catalytic activities are evaluated for the synthesis of structurally diverse biological important molecules under mild conditions.
The findings has been discussed in a peer reviewed article published in the ‘Journal of Molecular Catalysis A: Chemical (Vol. 387)’. (Details of publication mentioned later)
Extra-curricular Activities
2012 – 2015
AASRITE (Member) - AASRA
Have been a proud Aasrite, i.e. an active member of AASRA NIT Rourkela, which is a social service club, working for the upliftment of poor and neglected sections of society.
Work involved taking regular evening classes and conducting periodic assessment tests to monitor every child’s progress in a batch of 40 students.
Students overall development was ensured by including extra-curricular activities like sketching, dancing, and sports along with their regular course work.
2013 – 2014
General Secretary - C.V. Raman Hall Of Residence
Elected among 900 students of C.V.R Hall of Residence, NIT Rourkela to serve as the General Secretary.
Organised activities like Orientation for fresher, Hall Day, Garden Fest, Foundation Day and Farewell Functions.
With the help of authorities and under-secretaries, started a departmental store inside the hall to cater the needs of the hall residents.
2012 – 2014
Core Coordinator – Nitrutsav (Annual Institute Fest)
