PROJECT UNDERGONE IN B.E? PROJECT TITLE: Microwave curing of Epoxy/Glass fiber composites using silica based moulds. PERIOD: 05/6/2014 to 06/12/2014 COMPANY:NATIONAL AEROSPACE LABORATARIES (NAL), BANGALORE. The main objective of this work is to cure thermosetting polymer composites i.e. curing of glass/epoxy composite by using microwaves. It also includes the comparison of properties between microwave cured composites and thermally cured composites. Since the metal moulds reflect the microwaves as it produces arching and also damages the magnetrons hence metal moulds cannot be used in the case of microwave curingso ?ceramicmolds are prepared and ?Epoxy/glass composite laminate are cured by microwaves. After curing of these laminates glass transition temperature and other properties i.e mechanical properties are tested according to standard procedure. ACHIEVEMENTS: ? Actively engaged in Quality control circle (QCC) and lead the group as ?Team Leader? and solved problems by proper analysis (Root cause), developed counter-measure by kaizen activity. ? Successively presented QCC case study in QCFI (Quality Circle Forum India), Bangalore and won ?Gold award?andalso presented this case study in ?NCQC held at chennai? ? Participated and successfully presented paper on microwave curing of polymer composites using silica based moulds in Polycon 2014, 6th national conferenceorganized by department of polymer science and technology, SJCE Mysore. Future Goals: Seeking an opportunities to make the best possible use and to contribute my skills tothe organization?s vision and mission and gain practical experience to strengthen my knowledge base. ________________________________________________________________________________________
