VIth Semester- B.Tech-Surface Coating Technology 

Organisation: BASF Coatings India Pvt. Ltd., Mangalore, Karnataka 

Duration: 04th June 2007 to 30th June 2007 (1 month)



Areas of Training: 

I) Research And Development 

Carried out a project on evaluation and replacement of various Acrylic resins in automotive topcoats. Exposure to: 

(a) Criticality of Formulation 

(b) Various Manufacturing methods such as mixing and grinding recipes 

(c) Testing of Automotive Systems 



II) Production: 

Exposure to various bulk manufacturing methods for solvent based and electrodeposition paints. 



III) Quality Assurance: 

Exposure to quality control methods for raw materials, intermediates and finished goods including various wet paint, dry film properties along with long term evaluation. 



VIth Semester- Diploma in Surface Coating Technology 

Organisation: Akzo Nobel Coatings India Pvt. Ltd., Bangalore, Karnataka. 

Duration: December 2004 to May 2005 (5 months)



Areas of Training: 

I) Marine & Protective coatings: 

(a) Major contribution during the developmental work on Inorganic Zinc Silicate Coatings . 

(b) Handled shade matching for solid as well as metallic shades 

(c) Extensive exposure to various protective coatings to serve sectors such as Oil & Gas, Power, OEMs, Infrastructure, Marine. 

(d) Visit to Cochin Shipyard Ltd. to study various onsite marine operations during Dry Docking of ships and other vessels. 



II) Heavy duty production and quality: 

(a) Exposure to bulk production of liquid paints using equipments such as high-speed stirrers, bead mills and Dyno mills. 

(b) Supervision of bulk batches for operating procedures quality control. 



III) Powder coatings: 

(a) Carried out Project on Energy Consumption of Extruders during manufacture of Powder Coatings. 

(b) Extensive exposure to formulation and manufacturing of various Automotive, Architectural, Industrial and Functional Powder Coatings.

Organisation: Kansai Nerolac Paints Ltd, Mumbai, Maharashtra 

Duration: June 2003 to October 2003 (5 months)



Areas of Training: 

I) Automotive Coatings: 

(a) Extensive exposure to various automotive systems including Polyester, Acrylic and Polyurethane systems. 

(b) Handling of various automotive systems such as solid systems, metallic systems, Basecoat-Clearcoat systems, candy finishes. 

(c) Opportunity to solely carry out Process Validation Tests for one of the most reputed customers of Goodlass Nerolac Paints Ltd. 



II) Architectural coatings: 

(a) Exposure to manufacturing and testing of various Architectural Systems. 

(b) Handling of water based systems, including Distempers, Plastic Emulsion Paints, and Cement Paints. 

(c) Handling of solvent based systems, mainly Synthetic Enamels, Anti-Carbonation Paints. 



Trainee Chemist - Pigment Testing Laboratory

Worked with Sudarshan Chemical Industries Limited, Pune, Maharashtra.

Worked on a project for developing high tinting strength stainers with increased pigment percentage.
