Project
Biodegradable Polymers
Description: The Properties of Polymer blend is same as to customary plastics and it starts to degrade caused by enzymatic process resulting from action of cells. The main purpose our projects to mix the polymer from algae and LLDPE blend. The polymer blend is prepared by high speed mixer and twin screw extruder. The sample of polymer blend with algae from 0% to 25% is prepared. For determination of mechanical properties of this polymer blend, we use universal testing machine (UTM). It shows that if we add high amount of algae then the tensile strength is decreased. As the percentage of the algae increased then the percentage of elongation at break is decreased. Then film is manufactured by Extrusion machine for packaging purpose. Then the film is placed in landfill to check the percentage of degradation occurs.
