Insitu synthesized novel SiC modified Resorcinol Formaldehyde and Phenol Formaldehyde for Thermal Protection System (TPS) in reentry vehicles
Insitu synthesized Boron modified Resorcinol Formaldehyde for TPS
Cost efficient ablative composites with Butyl rubber waste for aerospace applications
Application: Spacecraft heat shields typically use Thermal Protection System (TPS) materials that pyrolyze and ablate at higher temperature during re-entry for mass efficient rejection of aero thermal heat load. This research focuses on development of thermoset matrix material with high ablation resistance for TPS. Synthesized hybrid composite showed enhanced ablation resistance with improved char yield than the pristine matrix. Have a temperature resistivity of more than 2300 °C when subjected to oxy-acetylene flame test.

Project Title : Mechanical and Transport Behavior of Nanosponges / Natural Rubber Nanocomposite using water evaporation method followed by two roll mill mixing
Details : Introduces a new Nanocomposite of Natural Rubber and Nanosponges. It is prepared by Water Evaporation Method followed by two roll mill mixing. This material shows good properties like Tensile Strength, Modulus and resistance to solvents (found out through diffusion studies) due to the very strong interaction of Nanosponges with Natural Rubber. Current Research developing in this field is evolution of flame retardancy by this Nanocomposite
Project II : M. Tech Project under Dr. Shashikiran Krishnadas

Project Title : Investigation of low VOC approach for solvent borne primer filler system
Details : Solvent borne primer fillers having very high volatile organic content (VOC) around 580g/L compared to waterborne counter parts (250g/L). Through this work VOC of solvent borne primer filler brought down to the level of 250g/L for the two systems such as Polyurethane (Acrylic polyol & Polyester polyol) and Polyurea.
