Company Profile: produces polypropylene (PP) films (for packaging, labels and adhesive tapes of 15-60
microns) starting from PP pellets (41000 tonns/year,24 hours a day,75 million euro/year)

Quality/Process engineer - 2012-2014
Statistical process control (using Minitab and excel).
Working with CPk > 1,33.Education of laboratories and production people to SPC. 
Automatized data collection (input by Operators) oriented to identification and problem solving.
When we have a yield problem we just need to plot input and output process data on graphs to identify causes and find corrective actions.
Managing of 2 laboratories with following measurements. 
Tensile strength, Young modulus, thermo shrinkability, M.F.R., haze,gloss, coefficient of friction, sealability strength,surface wettability, gas permeability.
Coordination of 8 persons in quality control.
 Development of new products (high speed tobacco packaging, adhesive tapes of lower  thickness, thermo shrinkable labels,cheese packaging).
 In the last year I sped up testing procedures in the laboratories saving 1,5 hour per shift (8 h).
I allowed to input test data in central company server in one and only step.Got the goal using tablets or connecting every test instrument to server.
Introduced a visual measuring system to measure samples dimensions, saving the time of eye measurements. 
Introduced a new toll to cut six different samples for mechanical tests in one and only step. 
With these improvements allowed the company to reduce the quality control personell from 9 to 7. 
I discovered the possibility to see the different molecular orientation along the transverse direction of the PP film using polarized natural light. 


Maintenance Engineer : From 2007 To 2011
Job Profile:
Management and scheduling of preventive and extraordinary maintenance (using INFOR and Microsoft Project):during the biannual shutdowns I scheduled 500 works and coordinated 24 internal persons and 2 external firms (most important labours: disassembly and cleanness of plenum and suction ducts of the ovens,of tubular and plate heat exchangers, of screws and extrusion dies).
Equipments include 6 PP extruders which output 3000 kg/h (with 900 kw motors and gearboxes), compressors for pellets transport to process feeding, powders separators, compressed air production systems (8 bar), gas-fired boilers (3500 kw) for heated oil supply to process (200 l/h at 250 °C), ovens (60-70 metres long) heated by gas burners (at 160 °C), rolls (from 1 to 8 metres),water and air refrigeration systems (1600 kw), centrifugal pumps, tubular and plate heat exchangers (1-5 metres long),10 grinders (up to 300 kw) to process and recycle (or sell) waste products.
-Control and reduction of electric energy (maximum power requested =12 megawatt), gas (around 3 million Sm3/year) and process water consumptions (elaborating and using P&I and PFD).
-Input of predictive maintenance works in INFOR after finding out the failure mean time of parts. -Cmms supervisor, maintenance KPI definition and control.

Maintenance Engineer : From 2005 To 2006
Job Profile:
Implementation of a computerized maintenance management system (INFOR enterprise asset management): representation as trees of every plant using (or elaborating) P&I and PFD,input of spare parts and ordinary and extraordinary works. The system is currently used in intranet by 50 employees (including the purchasing office). It enabled a high reduction in maintenance costs and breakdown downtime. The system improved, besides, the process control: if you know when you have to replace rolls or other spare parts on the plants you can avoid the most percentage of film breaks. Maintenance workers see every day on their computer the periodic works to do (with plants in
operation or during short downtimes): the system automatically issues work orders and no one has to remind the workers

Process engineer : From 1996 To 2004
Job Profile:
Process control. 
Identification of relations between every input (extruder round per minute,melt die distribution, quenching conditions, stretching rate, relaxation rate, winding tension) and every output (mass output,thickness,tensile strength at break, tensile E modulus, shrinkability, optical properties, flatness) variable.
 Yields optimization (decrease of film breaks) and energy consumptions reduction (introduction of new PP resins more processable). 
Products design with recipes (resins and masterbatches in every layer) and process conditions setting (temperatures in the extruders, stretching rolls, ovens).
 New products design (with enhanced mechanical properties, shrinkability, sealability, slipperiness). 


OTHER ACTIVITIES 
Implementation of an hygiene control system (for IRPLAST-BIMO)and a H.A.C.C.P. in compliance with food industry standards (A.I.B.;B.R.C.).Monthly inspections to keep the system under control.
