Project : “Recycling of Printed Circuit Boards Waste and Metal Adsorption Studies of Acrylate based Hydrogels”
Description in brief:
The number of personal computers discarded globally increases every year. Consequently the amount of defective material grows in the same proportion and its disposal becomes necessary. “Printed circuit boards (PCB)” are part of these equipments and their composition is quite varied, containing polymers, ceramics and metals. The objective of this project is to separate valuable metals from the PCB waste. Solvent leaching and Electro-deposition processes were used to separate and recover the metals.
Apart from the project work, an interesting thing that’s been found in our research was Metal uptaking of Hydrogels by subjecting the obtained residual solution from PCB to adsorption using poly (sodium acrylate) hydrogels for further treatment. This hydrogels can be used in the waste water treatment.
