Projects
M.Tech Project work In Central institute of plastic. (Under taken IIT Kharagpur)
Title:                                  Biodegradable PLA/PBAT blend and its nanocomposite”
Organization: Laboratory of Advanced research in polymeric materials (LARPM), CIPET BBSR
Duration: 1 year
Objective: To develop Biodegradable Polymeric compound for safe environment by using different nanoclays (Na MMT,C-30B,C-20A) as well as Additives and studying properties such as Biodegradability, Mechanical, morphology & thermal stability .

Experimental:
The project was implemented to prepare A PLA/PBAT Blend and its nano composite by melt blending in HAAKE batch mixer. The effect of GMA and Nanoclay on the Mechanical, Thermal and Morphological properties of PLA/PBAT was studied.
Sodium Montmorillonite, Cloisite 30B and Cloisite 20A from Southern Clay products were used to improve the modulus.
The Nanocomposites batches with different wt % of nanoclays and reactive processing agent were prepared.
Preparation of 3 mm compression moulded sheet and cut samples according to ASTM D for Mechanical, Thermal, Morphological testing.
Tensile tests were  carried out in UTM LLOYDS U.K. and CEAST, Italy
Dispersion effect of organophilic clay in the Blend matrix was analyzed by X-Ray diffraction (XRD).
Various properties such as crystallinity, Tg of the Nanocomposites were studied by differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) Perkin Elmer U.S.
The nanoclay dispersion and membranes porosity were studied using SEM,TEM
The thermal degradation was studied by TGA, Perkin Elmer U.S.
Biodegradability Test carried out by soil biureal test and according to ASTM D 5338.
