Work Experience

M.Tech Project Title:
Preparation and characterization of PMMA with functionalized MWCNT nanocomposite via in situ polymerization

Description: Poly (methyl methacrylate) (PMMA) is often used for wind shield in automotive application and in many such applications. Many other applications are restricted due to its poor scratch resistance, hardness and mechanical properties. The CNTs-PMMA Nanocomposites find suitable candidate for such applications. The CNTs-PMMA Nanocomposites properties mainly depend on the uniform dispersion of CNTs in to the matrix. The hardness properties can be improve by adding the –COOH functionalized CNTs in to the matrix of PMMA. In this study the nanocomposites was prepared by in-situ polymerization of MMA, so that the uniform dispersion can be achieved. In this way strong interfacial bond can be formed between –COOH functionalized CNTs and PMMA, which will result in improving the hardness and other mechanical properties due to strong interfacial adhesion. The incorporation of functionalized MWCNT improves uniformity, dispersion and alignment in nanocomposites to get better reinforcement.
