Current Project Description:
There is an increasing interest in development and promotion of the use of “Bio-plastics and Bio polymers” in various applications. In our project we developed many film samples of CHITOSAN AND POLY LACTIC ACID COMPOSITES using regular melt extrusion method and by electro spinning process to develop Nano fibers by varying the % of chitosan in the composition. The water absorbing properties of the film and degrading properties of the film are examined and cross checked with films of all composition. The composition with the best properties and shelf life is highlighted.

INPLANT TRAINING:
Undergone 7 days industrial training in Devi Polymers, Chennai. Trained about compression molding of SMC, DMC andTooling of mold.
Undergone 7 days industrial training in Visteon Automotive India Ltd, Chennai. Trained about injection molding of automobile structural components and interior parts and tooling of very large molds.

INDUSTRAIL VISIT:
Visited Sriram Fibers, Chennai. Where we saw and gathered information about nylon polymerization, fiber spinning, cot weaving, dipping and packaging.(overall manufacture of nylon tire cord)
Visited Esteem Polymer Products, Chennai. Where we saw injection molding various automobile components and manufacturing of medium sized molds.
