Title : Synthesis, Characterization and Nanofabrication of PLA polymer for Biomedical Application.
Description : Polylactide polymers have attracted tremendous attention because of innumerable uses in the
biomedical field, particularly in the field of tissue engineering and drug delivery.PLA polymers
are biocompatible, biodegradable and have been prepared by ring opening polymerization using
various transition metal catalyst which are toxic. therefore, biocompatible catalyst (zinc proline)
was synthesized and used to obtain molecular weight of polylactide polymers. PLA nanofiber
was fabricated using electrospinning and the parameters such as solution properties, electric
potential, flow rate, concentration and distance between the capillary and collection screen were
varied to obtain desired nanofiber,Sulfanilamide was chosen as antibacterial drug which was
incorporated in PLA nanofiber in order to antibacterial property. The PLA polymers were
characterized using NMR, GPC, DSC and XRD. The nanofibers were characterized by E-SEM
and TEM.
Duration : One year (National Chemical Laboratory, Pune)

Title : Electrical Conductivity in structural Nano Composites
Description : Electrical Conductivity is important in composites for various applications and according to their
usage.
In our project we have tried to impart electrical conductivity using conductive fillers such as
Nickel Coated Graphite (NCG), Aluminium Powder and using Nano materials such as graphene,
Carbon nanotubes and carbon nano fibers. They were used as individual fillers as well as along
with combination for improvement in electrical conductivity.
