Research and industrial experience in automobile company
Research Assistant
August 2007 Till date
Dept – Polymer Science & Engineering (CFPE Group)
Projects working on –
1a) Study of structure-properties of Bazan activated PE (finished)
1b) Rhelogy of crystallizing polymer melts
Model system to study rheology/evolving structure of two-phase crystal+melt systems
Can dial in degree of crystallinity, orientation
Possibility of obtaining high shear rheology of such two-phase systems for the first time
2) Worked for Industrial Projects for –
Pune Municipal Corporation – For characterization of Plastic Bins
Analyzed polymer with DSC IR studies for a raw material supplier
Humidity test for bumpers for a company
Hands on experience with–
ARES – Advanced Rheometric Expansion System (TA Instrument)
It is a strain controlled rheometer. It can perform various rheological experiments in Dynamic, Steady and Transient modes.
I have performed all kinds of Dynamic, Steady mode expts with Parallel plate and Cone & Plate geometries in inert atm. Skilled in TTS expts.
Also performed SER expts – Extension Rheology in the same machine to study extensional properties of PE samples (Bazan activated)
MCR – Rheometer (Anton Paar) It is Stress controlled rheometer. Performed similar kinds of expts on LLDPE blend samples as with ARES with some creep tests.
Linkam Shear Cell – CSS 450 – High temp shear cell. It consists of cell having two circular quartz windows, which are in close thermal contact with silver disk heaters. It is used to shear sample.
Performed Linkam with Microscope
Linkam – Turbidity measurements with Lab View Software
SALS set up – Completely designed entire laser set up for SALS
SAXS – Small Angle X-ray Scattering
DSC – Differential Scanning Calorimeter
Maxim DL CCD Camera – A very fancy camera capture SALS images
Member M4 – Engineering and Business Development
May 2006 to July 2007
Tata AutoComp Systems Limited – Interiors & Plastic Division
Worked as Team Member for New Product Development – Plastic components in Automobile sector (Interiors / Exteriors / under the hood)
Projects worked on – Indigo Facelift, Marina Facelift
Indigo LWB & Indica Facelift II
Job Profile involves complete product development with technical and commercial settlements.
Raw Material selection – Supplier interaction (technical + commercial)
DFMEA / PFMEA
Resolving all Engg development concerns
Part Approval from Customer as per customer specifications & test standards.
Parts developed included – Front & Rear Bumper (Painted), Dashboard, Door Trims, Console family, Sill Valance Cover, Body Side Molding, Rear AC Fascia, Scuff Plates outer & inner with all Tool development.
Additional Qualification
Carried out B.E. project in National Chemical Laboratory, Pune under the able guidance of Dr. Ponrathnam (Scientist G) Deputy Director – NCL
Project Title - Effect of Nucleating Agents on Polypropylene
Participation in Paper Presentations during academic career
Studied German at H.S.C level
To associate with Research and Development related to Polymer Science & Engineering. Keen interest in Polymer Materials, Rheological behavior of polymers, Polymer processing & characterization.
