Job Description:-
Testings Performed:
Tensile Strength & Elongation at Break test common for all PVC, EPDM, EVA
(Ethylene Vinyl Acetate), & XLPE (Cross-Linked Polyethylene) based cables to determine the Mechanical Strength of the cable.
Smoke Density Rating Test for Fire-Resistant low smoke PVC Cables & EVA
based Zero halogen Low Smoke (ZHLS) Cables to ensure that the smoke
evolved on fire is under the specified value.
Oxygen Index Test for Fire-Resistant PVC Cables to ensure that the oxygen level required to initiate combustion of the cable is above than the minimum specified value.
Halogen Acid Generation Test for all halogen containing cable compounds to ensure that the halogen acid gas generated on degradation is under the specified value.
Melt Flow Index (MFI) to determine the flowability of Polymer granules & to ensure smooth extrusion during cable processing.
Thermal Stability Test to ensure that the cable compound does not degrade below the specified temperature limit.
Flammability Test for Fire-Resistant PVC cables & Electron beam cross-linked EVA based cables to ensure that cable set on fire self-extinguishes within the specified time and the charred portion does not exceed the specified length.
Oil Ageing & Oven Ageing Tests to determine the property deviation after the specified time of Oil immersion & Temperature exposure respectively.
Involved in the formulation develpoment of:
New grade of EVA based zero halogen low smoke material with better oil ageing and mechanical properties for usage in locomotive cables,
New grade of EPDM formulation for higher Tensile strengthfor welding cables.
New PVC insulation grades for improved thermal stability,
New formulations based on DuPont Vamac (Acrylic elastomer) grade for improved oil ageing property,
New PVC soft grade material to achieve high level of softness for usage in flexible power cord applications.
New PVC formulations with higher filler content for cost deduction.
New Cross-Linked Polyethylene grades with varied degrees of beam initiator for better mechanical & fire extinguishing properties.
Testing of all inward Raw Materials and preparing Incoming Raw Material Test Reports for evaluation with the Raw Material Test Certificates provided by the supplier.
Replacement of existing raw materials in the formulations with newer Raw Materials sourced from various suppliers & evaluating property deviation in the end product.
