Doctoral Research
Six years (Nov, 2012 - Nov, 2018) of working experience as a Ph.D. student in a
polymer and material chemistry laboratory. My research deals with the synthesis and
studies of several novel structural moieties of functionalized pyridine bridged
polybenzimidazole (PyPBI) with enhanced properties for use as proton exchange membrane
(PEM) in fuel cell. Ph.D. work includes synthesis of alternative, inexpensive tetramine
monomer derivatives to prepare highly conducting PyPBI. Doctoral work also focuses on the
synthesis and development of various types of anion exchange membranes (AEM) from
different structures of quaternized PyPBIs. In addition, my Ph.D. research also includes
development of polybenzimidazole (PBI) nanocomposites with acidic surfactant molecules
to prepare PEM with improved properties.
