Project for M. Sc. Program (University of Pune)
Study of reactions of L- Ascorbic acid. (Selective alkylation at 2-O position) using different alkylating agents.  Ascorbic acid was selectively alkylated at 2-O position by controlling the reaction conditions and other reaction parameters. Though alkylation at 3-O position is easy & feasible as compare to 2-O position. Since anion at 3-O position is thermodynamically more stable as compare to anion 2-O position.  Alkylation at 2-O position was selectively achieved by controlling the reaction conditions and stoichiometry.
