POSITION DESCRIPTION :
Sets up and operates injection-molding machines to cast products from thermoplastic materials: Installs dies on machine, according to work order specifications, using clamps, bolts, and hand-tools.
Sets machine controls, regulating molding temperature, volume of plastic, molding pressure and time, according to knowledge of plastics and molding procedures.
May mix thermoplastic materials and coloring pigments in mixing machine, according to formula
Inspect parts with precision and measuring tools.
Keep records of approved and defective units or final products
Ensure all direct labouring control work to safe working procedures and systems.
Co-ordinate and allocate work to technicians in accordance with priority.
Request equipment, materials and consumables as required with in limits of authority.
Monitor the use of materials and care of equipment and plant to minimise waste and damage.
Prepare short term schedules at an agreed frequency ie daily and weekly.
Ensure that all labour is constantly employed efficiently and effectively.
Provide leadership and direction to assigned labour.
Assist in the management of an harmonious environment, team building and training of apprentices and other employees as required.
