Research Project/Master Thesis
Studies on Insecticide bio degradation, By A Bacterial Isolate from A self-sustaining Compost System (Research is carried out in Bhabha Atomic Research Center, Mumbai Under the guidance of Dr. S.B. Ghosh-Scientific officer G) Description of project: a) As municipal waste become major problem in cities and its disposal method cause pollution and it cause major effect on human body. b) The growing population has increased the demand for food supply which in turn has increased the usage of pesticides to protect the precious food source; therefore degradation of pesticide becomes necessary The main aim of
the project is to reduce the burden of waste by organic method, therefore in this study we have develop compost variants which is degraded in 72
hours which is a novelty of this project as it become necessary to degrade pesticide so we focus to degrade the pesticide by a bacterial isolate,
therefore; Pyrethriods such as Cypermethrin & Cyhalothrin was degraded by bacterial isolate. The TLC analysis did give significant results and the HPLC analysis proved that isolate.
