Project: “Study of condensation of crude glycerol obtained from Bio-diesel synthesis with adipic acid and succinic acid in the presence of acid catalyst.” under the guidance of Lecturer Mr.B.C Halami, LIT, Nagpur.

Details:
Successfully carried out the synthesis of the Bio-diesel and separation of the crude glycerol.
Crude glycerol may convert from its current state as an advanced intermediate or chemical end product to a starting material for the large family of compounds by undergoing condensation reaction with adipic acid and succinic acid.
Bio-diesels consists of short chain alkyl esters which are produced from renewable resources like animal fats and plant seeds. Bio-diesels are not only eco-friendly but also biodegradable and non-toxic.
Bio-diesels are produced by transesterification reaction in which vegetable oil is chemically reacted with an alcohol (mainly methanol) in presence of catalyst like KOH and NaOH.

The main achievements of this project are :
Developed a process to produce Biodiesel in the lab
Experimentally produced bio-diesels using soyabean oil.
Determined the percent yield of crude glycerol in bio-diesel synthesis.
Developed a condensation process of crude glycerol.
